Fine Jewellery Collection 2023 - 2024
Number 10
Toucan, owl, tortoise, crab…
For his tenth jewellery collection, Marc Deloche imagined a benevolent bestiary where animals oscillate between the figurative and the abstract. In yellow gold or platinum, lacquered in intense colours, set with diamonds, this joyful menagerie is composed of seven rings and two bracelets whose curves invite touch.
"Ten years ago, when I launched my first jewellery collection, I chose the theme of the bestiary," explains the Toulouse-based designer. "A decade later, it was natural for me to come full circle by returning to my first loves with a different stylistic approach, at once more voluptuous and more naive."With the exception of the serpent, a recurring creature in the history of jewellery, Marc Deloche wanted to highlight animals that rarely appear in jewellery, such as the toucan, the crab, the tortoise, the owl, the fish or the bee. "I selected them because they all possess elements, whether in their form or their colour, that allow for immediate identification and thus permit a less figurative and more abstract stylistic treatment," confides the jeweller.
To bring them to life, Marc Deloche worked almost exclusively with his favourite model, the ring : "the only jewel that looks at the woman" — in 750 thousandths yellow gold or platinum set with diamonds and adorned with lacquer in different colours. "I conceived this bestiary as finger comfort toys so that they protect and comfort those who wear them," he concludes.
Two cuffs in 750 thousandths yellow gold and polymethyl methacrylate complete this collection number 10.
TORTOISE
The geometric patterns of the tortoise's scale shell captivated Marc Deloche, who reimagined them in 750 thousandths yellow gold, with flat surfaces of white lacquer and a marquetry of brown lacquer in the style of Tiger's eye and diamonds. An emerald represents the head of the creature. The cuff is in polymethyl methacrylate, adorned at its centre with the tortoise while its two extremities are edged with 750 thousandths yellow gold.

TOUCAN
"I drew the toucan's body in black and white so that it would contrast with its oversized beak in orange lacquer. The idea being that this bird is recognised by its flat areas of colour," explains Marc Deloche. In 750 thousandths yellow gold, the eye and beak paved with white diamonds, the bird with a Japanese spirit lands gracefully on the finger.

CRAB
Its singular gait, its vivid orange shell and its large claws captivated the jeweller, who applied himself to reproducing the attributes of the crustacean on a yellow gold ring. Stylised, the shape of the skull appears in flat surfaces of orange and black lacquer enhanced with white diamonds. The polymethyl methacrylate cuff is set with 750 thousandths yellow gold and the medallion bearing the likeness of the animal.
