Fine Jewellery Collection 2018 - 2019

Number 5

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday…

A planet, a colour, vibrations. And a ring for each day of the week. This is how Marc Deloche constructed collection number 5, a 2018-2019 jewellery collection exclusively dedicated to this type of jewel.

Is it the ring that looks at the woman? Or the woman who looks at her ring? A mystery. Whatever the case, these gold rings, symbols of love and adornment — the voluminous cocktail rings appeared during Prohibition in the United States, in order to draw the eye to the hand holding the illicit beverage… enjoy a status apart. Marc Deloche pays homage to them with this "number 5" which counts 7 of them with remarkable volumes.

"It is one of the only jewels that induces in its owner this particular, intimate, carnal, passionate but also playful relationship," observes the Toulouse-based designer. "It deserved a collection entirely dedicated to it. I created seven rings based on the seven days of the week, taking into account the planets and colours associated with them."

Collection joaillerie 2018 - 2019

MONDAY

Day of the Moon, Lunae dies provides an energy that fosters feelings, creation and intuition. White, sky blue, pale yellow. Monday's palette is close to that of the dawn. It soothes and troubles at the same time, like this 750 thousandths palladium grey gold ring whose furrows seem to have been carved into the lunar body. They make the blue-green hue of a 27.06 carat beryl vibrate, which is subtly illuminated by a cluster of diamonds.

Monday ring
750 thousandths palladium grey gold
One oval Beryl with a total weight of 27.06 carats and five diamonds with a total weight of 0.8 carats
Total weight: 77.31 g

TUESDAY

Mars is its master. Martis dies, conquering, a warrior at heart, this is the day of action. It is dressed in red and gold. The Mardi ring is built like a fortress of 750 thousandths rose gold whose summit forms a rectangular tower crenellated with diamonds. On its mirror-polished plateau, an oval rubellite of 4.18 carats reigns, its intense fuchsia colour ringing out like a declaration. Of love, naturally.

Tuesday ring
750 thousandths rose gold
One oval rubellite with a total weight of 4.18 carats and diamonds with a total weight of 2.30 carats
Total weight: 72.55 g

WEDNESDAY

Mercury presides over the destiny of Wednesday. A planet favouring exchanges, writing, expression and jousts of the mind, the third day of the week flourishes in green rays. In two-tone 750 thousandths gold, yellow and white, this Mercurii dies jewel springs from the hand like a two-headed Janus formed by a duo of chrysoprases, mentholated Siamese twins with an asymmetrical gaze. The body of the ring, both ergonomic and organic, invites one to play with their hands.

Wednesday ring
750 thousandths yellow gold and 750 thousandths grey gold
Two chrysoprase cabochons of 14 mm and 16 mm diameter
Total weight: 45 g

THURSDAY

Jupiter reigns over the day Jovis dies. Yellow is its colour, that of the king, the father, the spirit. The Jeudi ring carries within it the attributes of power. One might mistake it for a bishop's ring were it not that Marc Deloche has retained only its quintessential substance. A Byzantine cross in solar gold is set with an iridescent heart of Ethiopian opal. The whole, openworked, seems to float amidst a quartet of chalcedonies and yellow sapphires, with a circle of skin appearing, as if drawn, across two phalanges of the finger.

Thursday ring
750 thousandths yellow gold
One Ethiopian opal cabochon 240 x 172 mm and two yellow sapphires of 6 mm diameter with a total weight of 1.8 carats and two chalcedony cabochons of 7.4 mm diameter
Total weight: 37 g

FRIDAY

Day of Venus, Friday carries pleasure, delicacy and harmony. Draped in pink, blue or pale green, Veneris dies celebrates promises and unions. A herald of joy to come, this XXL corolla ring reveals a firework display of 750 thousandths rose gold and pastel stones. Sugared almond-coloured sapphires, raspberry tourmaline, turquoise apatite burst with carefree spirit on this jewel with neo-1950s accents.

Friday ring
750 thousandths rose gold
Six oval pink sapphires 70 x 50 mm with a total weight of 5.70 carats, two oval tourmalines 71 x 51 mm with a total weight of 1.41 carats and one oval apatite 118 x 79 mm with a total weight of 4.05 carats.
Total weight: 93.8 g

SATURDAY

Saturn, the planet of Saturday, reveals itself to be that of ascetics. The depth of black, the austerity of navy blue, the frugality of brown are sufficient for it to express itself. The Sambati Dies ring, in 750 thousandths white gold or 750 thousandths yellow gold, is a signet ring for a hermit. The meanderings of its lines lead to an expanse of ink or ultramarine lacquer into which the gaze plunges and is lost. A frugal and powerful ring. An abstract jewel.

Saturday ring
750 thousandths palladium grey gold
Total weight: 61.7 g

SUNDAY

Under the sign of the Sun, the Dominica dies ring breathes the happiness of being gathered together. Its spectacular dome in braided gold resembles a haystack from which, seen in profile, perfectly cut wheat stalks escape. The harvest proves precious with a centre stone of an intense yellow sapphire of 2.65 carats encircled by a dewdrop of brilliant-cut diamonds.

Sunday ring
750 thousandths yellow gold and 70 thousandths grey gold
One yellow sapphire with a total weight of 2.65 carats and diamonds with a total weight of 1.41 carats
Total weight: 66.8 g
