Fine Jewellery Collection 2021 - 2022
Number 8
The raw colours seem to emerge straight from a paint tube. While the architecturally structured gold sends light ricocheting off the lacquer surfaces and multicoloured hard stones. For his eighth jewellery collection, Marc Deloche conceived five rings and five pairs of earrings in a playful polychromy.
"After all those months in half-tones, I felt like colour!" explains the Toulouse-based designer. The vivid tones of the Memphis design movement's furniture, certain Mondrian canvases, the colour palette of Yves Saint Laurent's and Kenzo's clothing from the late 1980s form the basis of the inspiration for this Number 8 collection."
To express its quintessence, Marc Deloche designed five tandems of rings and earrings. "The ring is perhaps the most symbolic jewel as it represents attachment and it is the one that a woman can see, that she naturally looks at. As for the drop earrings, I love their movement, their gaiety and the radiance they bring to the face."
Jaune Corail, Bleu Orange, Vert Feu, Nuit Azur and Sapin Fauve outline the contours of a joyful and polychromatic jewellery collection.
JAUNE CORAIL (CORAL YELLOW)
Its architecturally structured profile and notched gold body, with a neo-forties spirit, give no hint of the chromatic tension at play at its summit. The Jaune Corail ring displays a canary lacquer plateau at the centre of which emerges an oval of orange stone, coral whose fire is amplified by a surround of diamonds. This statement jewel is accompanied by a pair of drop earrings where the same motif unfolds in long gold zigzags that follow the face with its every movement.

BLEU ORANGE (BLUE ORANGE)
It is neither round nor square. The Bleu Orange ring, a hybrid between a rectangle and a rounded shape, could have been drawn by an artist from the modernist movement. Were it not for this expanse of blue tones that constitutes it: the ultramarine takes on the colour of the sky, which transforms into turquoise stone after the passage of a half-sun of genuine coral. This stylised composition is underlined by a rail of diamonds. In earring form, Bleu Orange resembles a sunset over the sea whose radiance in gold circles ricochets endlessly on the skin.

VERT FEU (FIRE GREEN)
Spanning three shapes, the Vert Feu signet ring with Art Deco accents lends its relief setting to a powerful chromatic effect. Against these Stabilo yellow and flaming orange lacquers, Marc Deloche juxtaposes a plate of malachite streaked with several dense greens. This elegant jewel with its sleek geometry is enhanced by a fine line of brilliant-cut diamonds. Extra-long, the drop earrings display the same decoration on the earlobe. The latter is extended by a curtain of oblong gold plates that shimmer all the way to the nape of the neck.

NUIT AZUR (AZURE NIGHT)
It is an open book whose pages would be in turquoise, the centre in lapis lazuli, the margins in diamonds. The Nuit Azur ring is distinguished by the splendid rigour that its gold body deploys on the finger. Its square volume is tempered by the gentle two-tone effect of the blue lacquers. The assertive presence of Nuit Azur also pierces through in the drop earrings where plates of solar metal, of different widths, bring life and movement to this spectacular jewel.

SAPIN FAUVE (WILD FIR)
Of absolute chic, the Sapin Fauve duo juxtaposes the depth of a fir green with the caramel brown brilliance of a tiger's eye rectangle. It is enhanced by four vertically set diamonds. The beauty of the ring lies in its asymmetrical construction on three levels that the eye can appreciate both in profile and from the front. The same allure characterises the earrings where gold, crafted into generous links, displays an irresistible charm.
