ENTRETIEN ET RÉPARATION
CARING FOR YOUR JEWELLERY EVERY DAY
Jewellery, whether gold, silver or set with precious stones, is sensitive to external aggressions. Repeated contact with cosmetic or household products, as well as exposure to pollution, can diminish their brilliance.
- Avoid contact with hemical products: Chlorine, perfumes, creams and household products can tarnish your jewellery and damage its surface. It is advisable to remove your jewellery before applying these products.
- Protect them from knocks and scratches: Friction between pieces of jewellery can cause scratches, particularly on silver pieces and those set with precious stones. To minimise these risks, avoid wearing them layered together, especially on the wrists or around the neck.
- Remove your jewellery for certain activities: During household chores, sports, or when swimming in the sea or a pool, it is preferable not to wear your jewellery. Chlorinated water, salt and grains of sand can damage the brilliance and surface of the metal.
- Store your jewellery properly: When not wearing them, store each piece individually in a case or soft fabric pouch, away from moisture to prevent oxidation, particularly for silver jewellery.
STORING YOUR JEWELLERY
To preserve your jewellery over time, it is essential to store it with care:
- Protect them from light, heat and moisture: these elements can diminish their brilliance and encourage oxidation, particularly for silver jewellery.
- Store your jewellery separately: to avoid knocks and scratches, store each piece individually in its original case or in a soft fabric pouch.
- Avoid damp spaces: the bathroom is not an ideal place to keep your jewellery, as moisture can accelerate the tarnishing of certain metals.
REGULAR CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE
Regular maintenance helps preserve the brilliance and longevity of your jewellery:
- Use a specialist gold and silver polishing cloth: a soft cloth impregnated with a specific product will gently restore the shine of your jewellery.
- Clean diamonds and precious stones: to revive their brilliance, use a soft toothbrush with a little mild soap, then rinse with lukewarm water and dry with a clean cloth.
- Take care of pearls and organic stones: these materials are sensitive to acidic and alkaline products. Pearls, for example, need to be kept hydrated through contact with air and should not be stored for too long in an airtight box, as they risk drying out.
