Outsized volumes, pieces of variable geometry, an omnipresence of two- tone materials... For his fourth jewelry collection, Marc Deloche transforms jewelry into elements of style. Welcome to the realm of gold-as-metaphor.

The fourth jewelry collection

" It all began with an oblong shape that I wanted to stretch out as far as possible " explains Marc Deloche. " The result was a little strange and slightly irregular but I liked it. I wanted to make it the statement of this collection with more deconstructed and sometimes disproportionate styles. It was also important to create an element of surprise with transformable designs that let a woman wear a piece of jewelry in many different ways.” The twenty-two pieces in collection #4 are separated into four themes : Hyperboles, Anacoluthe, Litote and Anaphore.

Hyperboles

Exaggerated shapes. A simple thread in yellow gold, made entirely by hand, seems to have no beginning or end thanks to a safety pin clasp. As XL earrings, Hyperboles make the wearer appear as radiant as they are. The same oval link, mixed with smaller rounded and squared shapes, adorns a tri-gold necklace with multiple possibilities: it can be worn as a single or double-strand, with or without a 36.5-carat rutile quartz pendant, or form a stack of jangling bracelets. Stacked on a finger, they compose a ring of variable geometry.

Anacoluthe

An anacoluthe is a disruption in a sentence’s grammatical sequence. Marc Deloche’s Anacoluthe jewelry consists of a lasso measuring more than a meter long with myriad moon quartz fins set in yellow or white gold that suddenly twist, invert, shift shapes and alter the fall of the necklace. A choker also proves unexpected. In a flash it becomes a single earring that’s as supple as it is eye-catching. A pair of Anacoluthe cuffs set with the moon quartz patterns offers another variation on the design.

Litote

There’s an art to saying volumes while speaking as few words as possible. Gold and a few grams of hard stones are all it takes to create these two Litote rings. The first is an architectural sculpture set with a ball of malachite; the other plays its opposite with flat-set coral and turquoise. As for the Litote necklace, you’d hardly guess at first sight that it can be transform into highly geometric ear jewelry.

Anaphore

What better than anaphora to drive a point home? The jeweler transposes the rhetorical device of initial repetition into a brushed and polished gold spiral on giant hoops with a turquoise pistil set inside a calyx. In a similar vein, yellow gold coils up the arm like a precious spring punctuated by a lapis lazuli at each end. A triple-rung gold Anaphore choker is likewise brightened with turquoise. As a mono-earring, Anaphore brings together two golds, yellow and white, in infinite circles. In a rigid version, this element of style explodes into concentric patterns, in alternating yellow and white gold on two spectacular pieces, a cuff and a ring.
